CHAN 2020: DRC DOMINATES NIGER AND SECURES FIRST PLACE

DR Congo got their ticket to the quarter-finals of CHAN 2020 by taking the best of Niger on Monday.

The DRC won against Niger 2-1 and qualified for the quarter-finals. Still decimated by the coronavirus and endangered twice from the start following loss of ball, the Leopards A ‘were very happy to see Halidou miss the target each time. The DRC then responded and even took the lead on a lobed header from Kabangu after a cross from Baka (1-0, 27 ‘).

After the lemon break, even with changes made especially in attack, the Nigerians could not come back to the score against the double-winners of the tournament. Harouna Gabde’s foals tried several forays but to no avail. They waited until the 73 ′ to see their effort rewarded. On a well applied cross from Harouna Amadou, Moussa Issa Mossi with a plunging header equalizes for Niger.

The Leopards, touched in their honor with this goal, surprise, try their hand in the opposing camp. But neither Kabanza nor Kabungu Kadima manage to aggravate the mark. We had to wait for the stoppage time to see the winning goal. Masasi takes advantage of a bad clearance from the Nigerien goalkeeper to double the mark.

As expected, the Lions A ‘of Cameroon will face the Leopards A’ of Congo in the quarter-final on Saturday at the Japoma stadium.
