Ghana: the list for Japan with a surprise from Clermont and the return of André Ayew!

Confirmed as coach of Ghana after having qualified the Black Stars for the 2022 World Cup, Otto Addo revealed this Thursday his list of 33 players selected to face Madagascar (June 1 ) and the Central African Republic (June 5) on the occasion of the first two days of the CAN 2023 qualifiers then for the tournament in Japan against the host country and Chile or Tunisia.

Suspended in March following his expulsion from the CAN, captain André Ayew is making a comeback with Rennais Sulemana, Wakaso and Jonathan Mensah. Executives Thomas Partey (Arsenal) and Alexander Djiku (Strasbourg), however, are missing due to injury.

Four new ones are appearing: Alidu Seidu, 21-year-old central defender who has taken part in 21 Ligue 1 games this season with Clermont, locals Augustine Okrah and Daniel Afriyie, and binational Antoine Semenyo. Born in England and author of 8 goals and 12 assists this season in the Championship with Bristol, the striker had seen his debut postponed due to injury in March.

Courted, Mohammed Salisu (Southampton), Tariq Lamptey (Brighton) and Edward Nketiah (Arsenal), who all play in the Premier League, are however still desired.
