This Saturday, the French authorities relaxed their isolation measures for non-European players called up for selection during the next international break. From now on, the players in question will be exempted from the septaine upon their return to France, subject to benefiting from daily PCR tests and compliance with a sanitary bubble during their stay in selection. If this is the case, the French clubs no longer have a say and are required to release the elements concerned. The Senegalese Federation (FSF) jumped at the opportunity and announced this Saturday that it will charter a special outward and return flight for 9 players playing in France including binational Abdou Diallo (PSG) and Fodé Ballo-Touré (Monaco) who will thus be able to honor their first call against Congo (March 26 in Brazzaville) and Eswatini (March 30 in Thiès) as part of the CAN 2021 qualifiers.
Note that Alfred Gomis (Rennes), Pape Abou Cissé (Saint-Etienne), Youssouf Sabaly (Bordeaux), Moustapha Name (Paris FC) or even Saliou Ciss (Nancy), present in the initial list , will still miss the call, probably fault because of the persistent reluctance of their respective club. Joseph Roméric Lopy (FC Sochaux) and Abdallah Ndour (FC Sochaux) were called in to replace them.
The FSF press release
“ Following its referral requesting the release of Senegalese players playing in France for the next window of international matches, our national association received a response from the French Football Federation (FFF) by which it informs that the main reason which motivated the ‘unfavorable opinion resulting from the arbitration of the French government is the’ failure to return players in private transport ‘.
This is how the Senegalese Football Federation reiterated its request for availability by confirming that Senegal will charter a special flight reserved for players and members of the staff of our National Team on the Paris-Dakar-Brazzaville routes on 22.03. 2021 and Brazzaville-Dakar on March 26, 2021 as well as a private flight only reserved for the following nine (9) players for their return to Paris on March 30, 2021, after the Senegal vs Eswatini match, to avoid any rupture of their health bubble:
Boulaye Dia (Stade de Reims)
Bingourou Kamara (RC Strasbourg)
Idrissa Gana Guèye (Paris Saint Germain)
Abdou Diallo (Paris Saint Germain)
Krépin Diatta (AS Monaco)
Fodé Ballo Touré (AS Monaco)
Joseph Roméric Lopy (FC Sochaux)
Abdallah Ndour (FC Sochaux)
Pape Matar Sarr (FC Metz)
Reacting positively to this last request, the FFF wished to receive from the FSF, as soon as possible, the manifesto of chartered flights only reserved for these players.
The State of Senegal and the FSF would like to thank in advance the French authorities and the FFF for their benevolent understanding and collaboration. “
