Shakur Samed hasn’t been banned – Fred Acheampong

The leader of Team Ghana at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Mr. Fred Acheampong has spoken about the reportage of one athlete who has been sent home for failing a random test by the officials of the Commonwealth Games.

Mr Fred Acheampong also known as Achie spoke to a section of the Ghanaian media here in Birmingham and expressed dismay at the reportage circulating in Ghana about how the boxer has been banned but it’s not true. He failed a random test for selected athletes who were picked randomly for the test , although he tested positive for a banned substance found in his blood , Team Ghana are waiting for the results of his sample B results too.

The results of the sample B should be different from the sample A so that the Commonwealth Games Commission will take a decision on that but if it turns out to be the same that’s where sanctions will go the athlete. Samed has since been sent home because of the revocation of his participation.
