Training Workshop On Baseball Begins In The Ashanti Region

On Wednesday, June, 8, 2022, the Ashanti Regional Directorate of the National Sports Authority (NSA) in partnership with Rescue Sport Foundation commenced a three-day training workshop on Baseball for coaches and Physical Education teachers.

This training workshop which is taking place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will end on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Mr Emmanuel Kojo Appiah, Acting Ashanti Regional Director of the NSA who led the hosting of the workshop welcomed the participants and asked his team to introduce themselves.

Present at the workshop were; Head of Education, Training and Research Unit, Dr Enoch Baah and Head of Technical Department, Coach Simon Koku Gluikpor.

This training workshop is aimed at offering education and developing baseball from the youth. Dr Baah advised the participants to take this training workshop seriously because they can learn and become good coaches of baseball both home and abroad.

The workshop saw over 30 participants being offered lectures and videos, highlighting how the game is being played.

The resource persons who came to train the participants on the game were Kofi Frimpong, former baseball player and a coach of Playmore Africa Baseball Academy and Benjamin Annor, a coach and Director of Rescue Sports Foundation.

After the lecture, the participants together with the resource persons went to the field to do the practical aspect of what they had learnt. Demonstration of how to throw the ball, catch the ball and how to swing the ball were done. Participants took turn to have the feel of how baseball is being played.
