Ghanaian sprinter Isaac Botsio has bowed out of the men’s 100m competition at the ongoing Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after missing qualification from the opening round.
Competing in Heat 9, Botsio finished fourth with a time of 10.77 seconds, falling short of the automatic qualification places and missing out on a spot in the next stage of the competition.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Omari Lewis won the heat in 10.18 seconds, followed by the British Virgin Islands’ Rikkoi Brathwaite in 10.37 seconds, while Bangladesh’s Imranur Rahman placed third in 10.39 seconds.
Despite the disappointing result, Botsio showed determination against a competitive field, representing Ghana with pride on one of the biggest stages in Commonwealth athletics.
His exit comes after Ghana celebrated victories from sprint stars Benjamin Azamati and Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, who both won their respective heats to progress to the next round, keeping the country’s medal hopes alive in the men’s 100m event.
