Ghanaian youngsters Moslena Korama Adu and Rachael Quarcoo have successfully defended their Women’s Doubles title at the 2026 Ghana Grand Slam of the JE Wilson International Series at the Borteyman Sports Complex on Sunday August 16th.
The talented duo, who have established themselves as one of Ghana’s most formidable Women’s Doubles partnerships, delivered another impressive performance on home soil to claim gold and give Ghana a clean sweep of the Women’s Doubles podium.
Moslena and Rachael began their title defence with a hard-fought 2-0 victory (22-20, 21-15) over Uganda’s Gladys Mbabazi and Kruthum Nalumansi in the semi-finals.
Their victory set up an all-Ghanaian final against Victoria Asmah and Alana Faith Sullo, who earned their place in the championship match after defeating fellow Ghanaians Charity Naah and Jennifer Eduam 2-1 (20-22, 21-18, 22-20) in a closely contested semi-final.
With their wealth of international experience, Moslena and Rachael showed why they have become a force in Ghanaian Women’s Doubles, producing a dominant display in the final to defeat Asmah and Sullo 2-0 (21-10, 21-6) and successfully retain their crown.
The triumph adds another chapter to what has been a remarkable run for the young pair. In 2025, Moslena and Rachael won the Women’s Doubles title at the JE Wilson International Series before carrying their partnership onto the continental stage, where they also claimed gold in Women’s Doubles at the African School Games in Algeria and later won the same event at the African Youth Games in Angola.
Their consistency across domestic and international competitions has strengthened their reputation as one of Ghana’s emerging Women’s Doubles partnerships and provides optimism for the country’s badminton programme ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The 2026 Ghana Grand Slam further highlighted the depth of Ghanaian talent in the event, with Ghana claiming all three Women’s Doubles medals, gold for Moslena Adu and Rachael Quarcoo, silver for Victoria Asmah and Alana Faith Sullo, while Charity Naah and Jennifer Eduam took bronze.
For Moslena and Rachael, the back-to-back JE Wilson titles represent another significant step in their development as they continue to gain valuable international exposure and ranking points on the road to the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
