Team Ghana on Tuesday 27th October arrived in Dakar, Senegal for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games alongside coaches, medical staff and team officials, which will commence from 31st October to 13th November 2026.
The team is expected to take part in a range of events, with competitors preparing to test themselves against young athletes from across the world. Coaches have emphasized that the Games are about more than medals: they are also an opportunity to build experience, discipline and friendships across national boundaries.

After settling into their accommodation, the athletes attended team briefings, completed registration and familiarize themselves with competition venues. The coaching staff will also oversee recovery and final preparations, while organizers coordinate transport, training schedules and opening-ceremony arrangements.
Team Ghana will be participating in eight competitions, Badminton, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Judo, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, women’s 400m Hurdles and Men’s 400m Hurdles.
Ghana’s presence in Dakar is being welcomed as a moment of possibility for its next generation of sporting talent. For the athletes, the first days will bring adjustments to a new city, new routines and the pressure of international competition. But the delegation has arrived with a shared purpose: to represent Ghana with determination, sportsmanship and pride.
As the city prepares to welcome competitors from around the globe, the Ghanaian team is focused on the challenge ahead. The medals will be decided on the field, track and court but for these young athletes, simply reaching Dakar is already a milestone.
