Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has charged Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, to make the nation proud as they prepare to begin their campaign at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Minister delivered the goodwill message on behalf of the Executive and Parliament during a visit to the team’s training base in Casablanca, where he encouraged the players and technical team to give their all and fly Ghana’s flag high on the continental stage.
Hon. Adams assured the Black Queens of the unwavering support of the government and the Ghanaian people, urging them to approach the tournament with confidence, determination and a winning mentality.
“The entire nation is behind you. You have our prayers and support, and we believe in your ability to make Ghana proud,” he told the team during the visit.
The Black Queens have been drawn in a challenging Group D alongside Cameroon, Mali and tournament debutants Cape Verde.
Ghana will kick off its WAFCON campaign against Cape Verde on Wednesday, 29th July, before taking on Cameroon and Mali in the remaining group fixtures as they seek a place in the knockout stages of the competition.
The Black Queens are aiming to make a strong statement at the tournament and restore their status among Africa’s top women’s football nations.
