Ghana’s Black Satellites saw their hopes of reaching the semifinals of the WAFU B U20 Championship suffer a setback after being held to a 1-1 draw by Burkina Faso in their second Group B match.
Needing a positive result after their opening defeat, the Black Satellites battled hard but had to come from behind, with Joseph Badu scoring the crucial equaliser to earn Ghana a share of the points.
Despite the draw, Ghana remain in a difficult position in the group standings. The Black Satellites sit third with just one point from two matches and now face a must-win encounter against Togo in their final group fixture on Saturday, August 2.
However, victory over Togo alone may not be enough. Ghana will also need Nigeria to defeat Burkina Faso by a comfortable margin to improve their chances of progressing to the semifinals, making the final round of Group B fixtures decisive.
With qualification hanging in the balance, the Black Satellites must deliver when it matters most and rely on a helping hand from Nigeria to secure a place in the last four.
