Ghanaian judoka Fremah Agyei has advanced to the quarter-finals of the women’s -57kg event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after a commanding victory over Adama Sesay of Sierra Leone on Friday, 31 July.
Competing at the SEC Centre in Glasgow, Scotland, Agyei produced an impressive display to defeat Sesay by Ippon (100-10) in the Round of 16, securing her place among the last eight of the competition.
The Ghanaian will now face Yamini Mourya of India in the quarter-finals at 1:00 p.m. (local time), with a place in the semi-finals at stake. Agyei is one of two judokas representing Ghana at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, alongside Elizabeth Oduro in the women’s -63kg category.
Her impressive start has boosted Ghana’s hopes of adding another medal to its tally as Team Ghana continues its campaign across multiple disciplines. A victory over the Indian judoka would move Agyei one step closer to the medal rounds and strengthen the nation’s quest for podium success in judo.
All eyes will now be on the Ghanaian judoka as she returns to the tatami, determined to continue her remarkable run in Glasgow.
