Debutants Debibi United produced one of the biggest surprises of Matchday Nine in the Ghana Premier League after defeating Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0, while defending champions Medeama SC maintained their impressive campaign with a 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko.

The weekend’s action, which began on Saturday, October 31, and concluded on Sunday, November 1, delivered exciting encounters, important victories and dropped points for some of the league’s established clubs.

At the Debibi Presby Park, newly promoted Debibi United stunned Hearts of Oak through a 50th-minute strike from Demetrous Sarkodie. The result handed the debutants a memorable victory against one of Ghana’s most decorated clubs.

In Kumasi, Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC shared the spoils in an entertaining 1-1 encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Medeama took the lead through Safian Usman in the 42nd minute before Kotoko captain Musa Hamzata restored parity with a header in the 55th minute, ensuring both sides settled for a point.

At the Nana Agyemang Badu Park, Aduana FC recorded a convincing 2-0 victory over Berekum Chelsea. Stephen Amankona scored both goals in the second half to secure maximum points for the home side.

Heart of Lions came from behind to defeat Bechem United 2-1 at the Kpando Stadium. Stephen Afoakwah gave the hosts an early lead in the 23rd minute before Augustine Okrah equalised for Bechem United. William Oduro then scored two minutes from full-time to seal a dramatic victory for Lions.

Young Apostles and Karela United played out a goalless draw at the Wenchi Stadium, with neither side finding a breakthrough in a closely contested encounter.

The weekend’s fixtures had begun on Saturday, October 31, when Vision FC were held to a 0-0 draw by fellow debutants Port City FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema.

Both teams struggled to create clear-cut opportunities, with their defensive organisation ensuring that neither side could find the back of the net.

The result saw Port City collect a valuable away point, while Vision missed an opportunity to secure back-to-back league victories.

With Matchday Nine completed, Medeama remain among the leading contenders in the title race, while the results have further intensified competition across the league table.

Attention now shifts to Matchday Ten, as clubs prepare for another round of crucial encounters in the race for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League title.
