The Ghana Bowls Federation has taken another important step toward developing the sport in the country by organizing an officiating orientation workshop ahead of the National Bowls Open Championship Ghana 2026.
The workshop, held at the Accra Sports Stadium Media Center, attracted officials, players, and enthusiasts of the game, reflecting the growing interest in bowls across Ghana.
Convener of the Committee for Technical Officials and member of the World Bowls Laws Advisory Group, Janette Williams, joined the session virtually via Zoom as facilitator. She guided participants through the rules, officiating standards, and technical aspects of the sport.
The orientation forms part of preparations for the National Bowls Open Championship, scheduled for Friday, 15th May, at the Accra Sports Stadium. The competition is open to bowlers from clubs affiliated with the Ghana Bowls Federation.

President of the Ghana Bowls Federation, Charles Amufa, expressed satisfaction with the turnout and enthusiasm shown by participants, describing it as a positive sign for the future of bowls in the country.
According to him, the federation has been conducting regular training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium, and the workshop has further prepared participants for the upcoming tournament.
Participating clubs include:
