Ghana’s Evonne Britton has secured a place in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after producing an impressive performance in Round One on Thursday. Competing in Heat One, Britton clocked 12.78 seconds to finish among the fastest non-automatic qualifiers, earning one of the coveted places in the final.
The Ghanaian hurdler looked composed throughout the race, delivering a strong finish to keep her medal hopes alive on one of athletics’ biggest stages.
Britton arrives at the Commonwealth Games after representing Ghana at the African Senior Athletics Championships earlier this year. Although she narrowly missed out on a podium finish at that competition, she has continued to show steady improvement, and her latest performance in Glasgow is further evidence of her growing confidence and consistency.
She will now shift her focus to the final, where she will face some of the Commonwealth’s top hurdlers in a bid to secure Ghana’s first-ever medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Games.
The women’s 100m hurdles final is scheduled for 9:49 p.m. British Summer Time (BST), with Britton aiming to cap off her impressive campaign with a podium finish.
