Team Ghana concluded its campaign at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a commendable 30th-place finish on the final medal table, winning two medals, a silver in para shot put and a bronze in boxing.

Competing in eight sporting disciplines, Athletics, Boxing, Track Cycling, Judo, Para Powerlifting, Para Swimming, Swimming, and Weightlifting with a contingent of 40 athletes, Team Ghana delivered several encouraging performances despite fielding a relatively young squad, with many athletes making their Commonwealth Games debut.

Beyond the medal winners, Ghana’s athletes produced a number of standout performances that highlighted the country’s growing depth in sport. The men’s 4x100m relay quartet reached the final and narrowly missed out on a podium finish, placing fourth after a spirited performance against some of the Commonwealth’s strongest sprint nations.
Several Ghanaian athletes also advanced to the finals of their respective events, with many recording season’s bests, personal bests, and national records, underlining the progress being made ahead of future international competitions.
While the team fell just short of adding more medals, the performances throughout the Games provided plenty of positives and valuable experience for the athletes, particularly the newcomers who competed on one of the biggest stages in Commonwealth sport.
The campaign ends with optimism as Team Ghana now turns its attention to a busy international calendar. Preparations will begin for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, the 2027 Commonwealth Youth Games in Malta, and several continental and international championships.
The Glasgow campaign showcased Ghana’s emerging talent and resilience, providing a strong foundation as the nation continues its quest for greater success on the global sporting stage.
