Ghana’s Golden Shuttlers participated in a Badminton World Federation (BWF) training and development camp in Cairo, Egypt, as part of the BWF’s continued efforts to develop players, coaches and the wider badminton community.

The training brought together coaches and players from countries participating in the ongoing 2026 All Africa U-19 Badminton Championship and World Junior Championships.

The sessions were led by BWF instructors Jang Yanmei, Coaches Development Officer, Tracy Tan, Assistant Development Manager, and Erica Khoo.

The day began with a joint warm-up session before participants moved into skills and technique demonstrations on court. The players were taken through various aspects of the game while coaches also engaged in sessions aimed at improving their understanding of player development.

A key part of the programme focused on mental toughness, with players encouraged to learn from past setbacks, overcome losses and maintain a positive mindset as they look ahead to future challenges.

The indoor session, under the BWF’s Shuttle Time programme, introduced participants to the vision, mission and opportunities available within badminton. Shuttle Time is part of BWF’s development work aimed at growing the sport and providing learning opportunities through badminton.

Players also shared some of their best and most challenging experiences in badminton with colleagues from other countries, creating an opportunity for interaction, learning and networking.

At the end of the programme, participants received BWF souvenirs and guidebooks to support them in their continued badminton journey.

The Cairo camp provided the Golden Shuttlers with another opportunity to learn, connect and gain valuable knowledge beyond competition as they continue their development in badminton.
