The match appeared to be heading in Panthers’ favour after they established a commanding 10–0 lead early in the second half, having already taken a 6–0 advantage into halftime. However, Tigers responded with an outstanding attacking display, scoring 22 unanswered points to completely turn the contest around.
Panthers started the game brightly and took the lead in the 15th minute when Adam Marsuu crossed the line for a try, earning Panthers four points. Marsuu then added the conversion just a minute later at 16:00, contributing a further two points and giving Panthers a 6–0 lead.
