Ghana’s senior women’s volleyball team, the Black Spikers, have battled their way into the quarter-finals of the 2026 CAVB Women’s Africa Nations Volleyball Championship in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Ghanaian side endured a difficult start to their campaign, suffering defeats in their opening two matches.
The Black Spikers began with a 3-0 loss to Cameroon before narrowly going down 3-2 to Nigeria in a closely contested second encounter.
Despite the setbacks, Ghana bounced back strongly, securing a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tunisia in their third match to revive their hopes of progressing to the knockout stage.
They continued their impressive recovery with a convincing 3-1 win over Zambia, a result that secured their place in the quarter-finals.
The Black Spikers will now face Rwanda in the quarter-finals on Tuesday, September 1, as they look to continue their remarkable turnaround and book a place in the semi-finals.
Ghana will be hoping to carry the momentum from their successive victories into the knockout stage and make a strong push for a place among Africa’s top women’s volleyball teams.
