Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies have made a winning start to their CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU B qualifying campaign after edging ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire 1-0 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The Nanamma secured the vital three points on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the August 4 Stadium, with Gloria Adomako scoring the decisive goal in the 29th minute.
Ampem Darkoa held on to their advantage for the remainder of the game, keeping ASEC at bay to begin their Group B campaign on a positive note.
The Ghanaian champions are in Group B alongside Nigeria’s Edo Queens, AS Garde Nationale of Niger and ASEC Mimosas, with the group winners advancing to the next stage of the qualification process.
Ampem Darkoa are aiming to secure one of the zonal qualification places and return to the CAF Women’s Champions League main tournament.
The Techiman-based side has continental experience, having first reached the WAFU B final in 2022, where they lost 3-0 to Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens and missed out on qualification for the main competition.
They eventually made their debut in the CAF Women’s Champions League proper in 2023, after winning the WAFU B qualifiers by defeating Nigeria’s Delta Queens 1-0 in the final.
Ampem Darkoa went on to enjoy an impressive debut campaign, reaching the semi-finals before losing to SC Casablanca. They subsequently finished fourth after a 2-0 defeat to Morocco’s AS FAR in the third-place playoff.
The Ghanaian champions will now look to build on Monday’s victory as they pursue another appearance on the continent’s biggest stage for women’s club football.
