Ghana’s women’s national volleyball team got off to a difficult start at the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship, falling 3–0 to Cameroon in their opening Group C encounter at the Kasarani Arena in Nairobi, Kenya.

Cameroon controlled the contest from the opening serve, taking the first set 25–16 before maintaining their momentum to win the second set 25–20. Ghana fought to stay in the contest, but Cameroon remained composed and closed out the match with a 25–14 victory in the third set.

The result gives Cameroon an early advantage in Group C, while Ghana will be looking to regroup and bounce back as the tournament progresses.

Despite the disappointing opening result, there is no reason for Ghana to lose sight of the bigger picture. The championship has only just begun, and the team has an opportunity to assess what went wrong, make the necessary adjustments and return to the court with renewed determination.

The players and technical team will now turn their attention to the lessons from the Cameroon game, with the hope of producing a stronger performance in their next outing.

The CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship is being held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 23 August to 5 September 2026, bringing together Africa’s leading women’s volleyball teams in a battle for continental supremacy.
