Julienne Afi Amezado emerged winner of the Ladies Group A at the MTN@30 Invitational Golf Tournament after recording 39 points at the Achimota Golf Club on Saturday, September 12.

Playing off a handicap of two, Amezado topped the group as golfers from clubs across the country gathered for the tournament, which formed part of activities marking MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary.

More than 20 women participated in the competition, with Amezado finishing ahead of Princess Nkansah-Boadu, who placed second with 35 points off a handicap of 13.

Mary Agyeman Prempeh, playing off a handicap of seven, also recorded 35 points to finish third.

The victory was Amezado’s first at an MTN Invitational, and she expressed her delight at taking home the trophy. “I’m so happy and excited because this is my first time playing at the MTN Invitational, and it’s such a big opportunity to participate and take the trophy home,” she said.

Amezado, who is preparing for the Ghana Open, said her performance at the tournament had given her confidence ahead of the competition. “I’m actually preparing for the Ghana Open, so I’ll try and put my hand on that one too. I shot 71 today, which is one under par, and I’m so happy right now. I’m sure I’ll take that one home too,” she said.

She described the tournament as good preparation for the Ghana Open and encouraged more young girls to take up golf. “It’s a good preparation for me, and I encourage all young girls out there to get involved in the game of golf,” she added.

Amezado received a trophy and MTN-branded goodies for her victory.
