IOM, AMA Launch Migrant Integration Initiative to Strengthen Access to Essential Services

International Sports Local Sports

To advance migrant inclusion and access to essential services, IOM Ghana, in partnership with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly and with support from GIZ Ghana through the Community Response for Sustainable Reintegration of Migrants and Enhancement of Migration Management Services Project, has launched the Accra Migrant Integration Initiative and handed over the AMA Migrant Desk Management Platform, a digital solution that strengthens migrant case management, referrals and coordination among service providers.

The launch also marked the start of a pilot initiative supporting over 200 migrants to obtain national identification and enroll in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), helping reduce barriers to healthcare, legal identity and social inclusion.

Together, these efforts are helping build a more inclusive Accra, where migrants can access essential services, participate fully in community life and benefit from more responsive and coordinated migration services.

Through stronger partnerships, digital innovation and expanded access to services, the initiative is strengthening local migration governance and creating more inclusive communities.
