The Ghana-Anhui Chamber of Commerce and Industry has donated 2,120 sports essentials to the National Sports Authority (NSA) Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee to support the development of grassroots sports through the Constituency Games.

The donation was presented on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the ESP Hotel in Labone, Accra, at a ceremony attended by key stakeholders in Ghana’s sports sector. The items donated include 600 pairs of footwear, comprising peace canvas sneakers and casual shoes, and 1,520 peace T-shirts in adult unisex sizes ranging from XS to 3XL, bringing the total number of donated product units to 2,120.

The ceremony brought together members in the sports fraternity, Ghana Olympics Committee President Mr Richard Akpokavie, NSA Board Chairman Dr Awal, Director General of NSA Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Chairman of Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee Samson Deen, Chairman of Ghana Anhui Chamber Commerce Tang Wei, President of Chinese Societies Association Tang Hong, Representative of United Nations Security Lihong Shen and former Black Stars Captain Andre Dede Ayew among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee, Samson Deen, expressed appreciation to the Ghana-Anhui Chamber for its partnership and support towards the development of sports in Ghana. “As part of the government’s reset agenda, this is not mere support but it will go a long way to help the sports and also to discover talents. No child should be left out because of their location or background. That is the reason for the Constituency Games.”

Mr. Deen added; “we believe with the right channel and resources, Ghana sports will take centre stage and also help project our country.”

A representative of the Chamber said, “the gesture as part of its corporate social responsibility and commitment to contributing to Ghanaian society, having operated in Ghana for years. “Sports is another aspect that unites and promotes peace, so we hope this donation achieves its purpose. We are ready to support whenever we are called upon to do so.”

Former Black Stars captain Andre Ayew also expressed his appreciation to the Ghana-Anhui Chamber for stepping forward with the donation, describing the support as important to the growth and promotion of Ghanaian sports.

The donation comes days after the inaugural Constituency Games Committee and its Partnership and Donations initiative brought together executives of the NSA Board, the GOC President, Andre Ayew, members of the Ghana-China Community and other stakeholders to mobilise support for the programme.

The Constituency Games Secretariat says the initiative is aimed at uniting communities, inspiring talent and building the future, with partnership, transparency, community empowerment and excellence forming key pillars of the programme. The initiative is expected to provide opportunities for young people across Ghana’s constituencies to participate in sports, identify their talents and receive support to develop their potential.

The latest donation is therefore expected to strengthen the resources available for the Constituency Games and contribute to efforts to ensure that talented young people are not disadvantaged by their location or background.
