Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Iddie Adams has expressed his strong support for the Ghana Amputee Football Team as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup. He stated, “Ghana’s strength lies in resilience and determination. I commend our amputee footballers and their organizers for their efforts. The government is committed to promoting inclusive sports, and we will carefully consider providing sponsorship to support their journey.”
The Sports Sector Minister said this when a delegation from the Ghana Amputee Football Club paid a courtesy visit to him to discuss their preparations for the upcoming tournament. The team reaffirmed their dedication to representing Ghana on the international stage and emphasized the vital need for government support to make this possible.

Renowned for their resilience, talent, and sportsmanship, the team has earned admiration nationwide. During the discussion, they highlighted that international exposure is essential not only for the players’ development but also for elevating Ghana’s reputation globally.
“Our players have shown exceptional dedication and skill in regional competitions, and participating in the World Cup would be a historic achievement for Ghana,” a team representative remarked. “However, we currently lack the necessary resources, and we are hopeful that the government will support us to turn this vision into reality.”
The delegation led by the coach and captain also noted the remarkable progress and positive influence of Ghana’s amputee footballers over the years. They pointed out that the team’s perseverance continues to inspire many young Ghanaians with disabilities to engage in sports and lead active lives. They stressed that competing in the 2026 World Cup would boost team morale and serve as a powerful symbol of inclusion and resilience for the entire nation.
The 2026 Amputee Football World Cup, organized by the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF), will be the 20th edition of this biennial international event, scheduled to take place in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico.
As Ghana’s amputee football team strives to make a global impact, support from the nation could be pivotal in transforming their aspirations into reality.
