Madam Rashida Hassan, Acting CEO of the Ghana Football Association, along with Rabiatu Abubakar and Nana Kwame Effah, team manager of Ampem Dakoa Ladies, paid a visit to Hon. Kofi Adams. The purpose of their visit was to present the Women’s League Championship trophy and to announce the team’s upcoming participation in the WAFU Zone B tournament scheduled to take place in Burkina Faso.
During the meeting, the Ampem Dakoa Ladies were commended for their outstanding performance in winning the Women’s League Championship. Their victory has positioned them as Ghana’s representatives in the prestigious WAFU Zone B tournament, which will be held in Burkina Faso.
Hon. Adams emphasized the enormous, untapped potential of women’s football in Ghana, highlighting the natural talents that exist within the country. He expressed optimism that with increased effort and support, women’s football could be developed to a level that rivals the men’s game.
Acknowledging the challenges associated with managing women’s football, the Hon. Minister noted that the government is committed to investing in sport through the sports fund, provided resources and funds are effectively allocated. As part of this commitment, directives have been issued to review the national lottery system to ensure it contributes more effectively to the sports fund for the development of various sports, including women’s football.
The Minister commended the efforts of the Ghana Football Association in strengthening women’s football and assured its readiness to support and collaborate further. Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams wished the team success in their upcoming tournament and pledged that the Ministry would soon reach out to offer additional support to promote women’s football across the country.
