Round Two of the RLFG 13’s Men’s Championship opened with a strong display of attacking rugby league as clubs returned from the mid-season break determined to strengthen their championship campaigns. The opening fixtures of the second leg produced dominant victories, impressive individual performances, and valuable points in the race for playoff positions.
Defending champions Bulls RLC made a powerful statement with a 44-4 victory over Titans RLC, delivering another disciplined performance built around effective attacking structures and a strong defensive effort.
Bulls started strongly, with Leslie Boadu and Richard Browne Asare crossing the line to establish an early advantage. Titans responded through Papa Sekyi, who scored their only try of the match. Bulls went into the break leading 16-4, before producing a dominant second-half performance to extend their advantage.
Richard Browne Asare completed a four-try haul, with his successful conversions coming in the 27th, 34th, 44th, and 51st minutes to add further points to Bulls’ total. Emmanuel Arku Boison, Collins Kweku Ofosu, Kwabena Kyei-Boafo, and captain Martin Osei Buabeng also crossed the line as Bulls secured a convincing 44-4 victory. Browne Asare’s all-round contribution once again highlighted his importance to the defending champions, combining strong attacking play with accurate goal-kicking.
Dragons RLC collected maximum competition points after being awarded a 30-0 walkover victory over Nungua Tigers RLC, following Tigers’ inability to fulfil the scheduled fixture.
Meanwhile, Accra Panthers RLC produced the biggest result of the weekend with a commanding 60-0 victory over Skolars RLC. Panthers controlled the match from the opening whistle, dominating possession and territory to establish a commanding 44-0 half-time lead.
Godwin Asamoah, Adam Marsuu, Akwei Godfred Adotei, Arimiyaw Shariff, and Emmanuel Bonney all crossed the line in the first half as Panthers’ attack overwhelmed Skolars. After the interval, Adotei and Bonney completed their braces, while William Asilevi added the final try of the afternoon. Adam Marsuu converted six tries, while Panthers’ defensive organisation ensured Skolars were unable to register points throughout the match.
The opening weekend of Round Two demonstrated that the championship race is becoming increasingly competitive. Bulls continued their strong title defence, Panthers produced one of the most dominant performances of the season, and Dragons secured valuable points to maintain their position at the top of the standings.
Following the opening fixtures of the second leg, Dragons RLC remain top of the table with 18 points, followed by Bulls RLC on 15 points and Accra Panthers RLC on 12 points. Nungua Tigers RLC sit fourth with 6 points, while Skolars RLC have 3 points and Titans RLC remain without a point.
The championship resumes on Sunday, August 16, with another exciting round of fixtures. League leaders Dragons RLC will face Accra Panthers RLC in a highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash, Bulls RLC will take on Skolars RLC, while Nungua Tigers RLC meet Titans RLC in a crucial encounter as both teams search for valuable competition points.
With the second half of the season now underway, every fixture carries greater importance as clubs battle for playoff positions and the opportunity to challenge for the 2026 RLFG 13’s Men’s Championship title. The next round promises another exciting chapter in what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive Rugby League seasons in Ghana.
