Ghanaian sprinter Abdul-Rasheed Saminu narrowly missed out on a place in the men’s 100m final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after clocking 10.06 seconds in Tuesday evening’s semi-finals.
Competing against a world-class field, Saminu produced a spirited performance but fell just short of the qualification spots as the race was decided by the finest of margins.
The Ghanaian had earlier impressed in the heats, booking his place in the semi-finals with a strong run that underlined his growing confidence and consistency on the international stage.
His performances in Glasgow have once again demonstrated his quality and determination, with the relay event offering another opportunity to help Ghana challenge for honours on the Commonwealth stage.
With Benjamin Azamati through to the men’s 100m final and Saminu set to return for the relay, Ghana’s sprint ambitions at the Games remain firmly alive.
