A GH¢10,000 fuel contribution from StarOil*is set to help Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) deliver the second edition of Friday Night Footy, as the sport continues to build a stronger platform for young players across the country.

The contribution will support the event’s transport, stadium lighting and other operational requirements, including the movement of students and young Rugby League participants to the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium.

Scheduled for Friday, 6 November 2026, Friday Night Footy will feature the Diva Series Final and the Men’s 13s Championship Final, bringing together some of the country’s emerging Rugby League talent for a major night of competition.

The support was received on Thursday, 8 October, when representatives of RLFG and the Greater Accra Rugby League Association visited the StarOil office. The delegation comprised Emmanuel Okyne-Tetteh, Chairman of Greater Accra Rugby League; Paulina Buabeng, Vice Chairman; Jafaru Awudu Mustapha, General Manager of RLFG; and Hilaria Wuaku, Communications Lead.

Amewuda Bernard Eyram, Marketing Officer, presented the fuel vouchers on behalf of StarOil.

The contribution comes as RLFG continues to use competitions and events to increase participation and create meaningful opportunities for young people to engage with Rugby League.

For StarOil, the partnership reflects its commitment to youth development through sport, while for RLFG, the support demonstrates how collaboration with the private sector can help strengthen the delivery of sporting events.

With the season heading towards its conclusion, Friday Night Footy promises to be both a celebration of the year’s competition and another opportunity to put young Rugby League players in the spotlight.
