Kalibil Handball Club wrote a new chapter in its history as they participated in the Handball Association of Ghana (HAG) Invitational Tournament, which ended on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Striking Force Grande Arena, with the women’s team clinching the club’s first major title under the new name, Kalibil.

Formerly known as Healthy Life Global, the club’s triumph marked a symbolic and historic moment, underlining a successful new beginning following its rebranding. The tournament, organised by the Handball Association of Ghana, brought together top women’s and men’s teams from across the country.

Kalibil’s women were dominant throughout the competition, winning all their round-robin matches against Police (19–17), Prisons (23–20) and Fire (15–8) to advance confidently to the final.

In the championship match, Kalibil once again faced Prisons. After an evenly balanced first half that ended in a 9–9 stalemate, Kalibil raised their intensity and discipline in the second half to edge Prisons 20–18, sealing a memorable victory and a landmark first title under the club’s new identity.

Head coach Raphael Sifah described the achievement as the reward for discipline and belief. “This title means a lot to us because it is our first under the name Kalibil,” he said. “Handball is a discipline game, so I told my players to play according to the whistle and the rules, work hard and never underestimate any team. They listened and executed the plan perfectly.”

He also acknowledged the challenge posed by their opponents and the role of management. “All the teams gave us very tough games, and they deserve credit. In sports someone must win, and we thank God for this victory. I appreciate the support from our management, and I hope this success motivates them to invest more in the team and possibly provide international exposure,” Sifah added.

Kalibil’s men also featured in the Men’s A Division, competing against strong service sides including Police, Fire and Prisons. Despite showing resilience and competitiveness, the team finished fourth overall.

With the women’s team lifting the trophy and the men gaining valuable exposure, Kalibil’s outing at the HAG Invitational Tournament signalled a promising future for the club. The historic triumph not only celebrated success on the court but also confirmed that the transition from Healthy Life Global to Kalibil has begun on a winning note.

Kalibil Women received a trophy, a cash prize and a ball.
