Ghana’s para shot put star Zinabu Issah to recieve £2,000 special podium bonus by Samson Deen following her historic silver medal performance at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Issah, who was widely regarded as one of Ghana’s strongest medal prospects heading into the Games, lived up to expectations by winning silver in the Women’s F57 Shot Put with a season-best throw of 8.65 metres. Her outstanding performance earned Ghana its first medal of the Games and placed the nation on the Commonwealth Games medal table.
The bonus forms part of a Special Target Podium Medal Bonus package announced by National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana President Samson Deen to motivate Ghana’s para athletes competing in Glasgow.
Under the incentive scheme, gold medal winners will receive £3,000, silver medalists £2,000, while bronze medalists will be rewarded with £1,000. The initiative reflects the NPC Ghana’s commitment to recognising excellence and inspiring athletes to compete for podium finishes on the international stage.
By claiming silver, Issah becomes the first Ghanaian athlete to benefit from the special bonus initiative, receiving £2,000 in recognition of her remarkable achievement.
Speaking through the announcement of the incentive package, Samson Deen reaffirmed NPC Ghana’s dedication to rewarding hard work and success, expressing confidence that the bonus scheme will inspire Ghana’s para athletes to continue striving for medals at major international competitions.
