The Ghana Volleyball Federation (GVF) has formally recognized and celebrated its remarkable achievements in recent national and international competitions, calling on the Ministry of Sports and Recreation for further support to elevate the sport across the country.

Led by President George Tettey, Esq., alongside Women’s National Head Coach Abdul Rahman Danladi, Team Manager ASP, Bernice Timbila, and key officials and players visited the Ministry to present their accomplishments and outline their plans for future success.
The federation’s recent achievements include winning gold at the CAVB Zone 3 Nations Cup in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, and securing medals at the Africa Youth Beach Cup in Saly, Senegal. Ghana’s teams also performed impressively at the CAVB Zone 3 Beach Volleyball Nations Cup in Badagry, Nigeria, earning silver medals, and participated in the Road to Los Angeles 2028 Series and World Championship qualifiers.

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, along with Chief Director Mrs. Fati Lily Soale and other officials, congratulated the federation on their outstanding achievements. Hon. Adams underscored the importance of investing in sports, stating that “when sports are properly supported, the youth of this country will flourish.” He expressed excitement about the federation’s efforts in lesser-known sports and their role in national development.

Hon. Adams also highlighted the government’s commitment to sports development, referencing a recent promise by President John Dramani Mahama to build ten mini-stadia with multipurpose facilities across Ghana. This initiative aims to nurture grassroots talent and broaden access to sports facilities nationwide. He further noted that during a recent cabinet meeting, the President and Vice President assured him of their keen interest in supporting all sports disciplines, including volleyball, with increased funding and infrastructural support.

The Minister called on all stakeholders to collaborate and mobilize resources for the sports fund, emphasizing that sports often labeled as “lesser sports” could benefit from increased investment. He also commended the Ghana Police Service for recruiting sportsmen and women into their ranks and encouraged other security agencies to follow suit.

Addressing the athletes directly, Hon. Adams praised their sacrifices and urged them to remain disciplined, focus on their training, and heed the guidance of their technical teams. “You can reach whatever height you aspire to. Keep listening, stay focused, and continue to soar higher,” he advised.
